Living in Arizona I take Taco Tuesday pretty seriously. I love trying out new restaurants for the perfect taco. Last weekend, I drove around looking for a new restaurant to try and I came across CRUjiente tacos. Bonus, it was during happy hour! I had never heard of CRUjiente before so, I had no idea what to expect. I must say I was happily surprised with the menu offerings.
I have learned the hard way that just because taco is in the name of a restaurant does not mean it is going to be good. So, I honestly did have some reservations. I will share all about my experience below. As always, if you make the trip please hashtag #hopeshabits so I can see your photos and feature you.
Atmosphere and Decor: Cru Tacos has a simple modern vibe. It is a smaller restaurant with mostly bar and booth seating. Not the best restaurant for larger parties. However, you can tell a lot of thought went into the decor of the restaurant.
Value: I would consider Cru to be a gourmet taco experience. The offering of tacos is not what you would find at your typical Mexican or New American restaurant. It is truly a unique experience. The tortillas are made in house from blue corn. That is a nice touch from the traditional corn or flour tortilla.
Service: My server was amazing. They provided me with great recommendations and also very knowledgeable of menu.
Quality of Food: Hands down one of the best quality tacos I have ever had. Now if you are looking for traditional Mexican street tacos, this is not the place. This is unique gourmet experience with a lot of thought and creativity
Happy Hour: Happy hour is Monday-Saturday. It is so rare to find a restaurant with a weekend happy hour. Happy hour includes drinks, some appetizers , and tacos.
Menu Variety: So many amazing menu items. Traditional taco fare and unique ahi tuna tacos.
Recommendations: If you have never been, I would go during happy hour. That way you get the most bang for your buck. You are going to want to try a little of everything trust me.
What I ate: Summer squash taco, ahi poke taco, and fish taco. Summer squash taco was surprisingly packed with flavor. It is definitely the best veggie taco I have ever had. Ahi poke taco simple yet amazing! Fish taco, so fresh, so flavorful and the blue corn tortilla pairs perfectly.
